Last year at this time Sarah and I were at Duke with Micah during a difficult medical time. Micah was receiving treatment (a mild chemotherapy treatment) for something called PTLD. It was last year (from September 2007 to September 2008) that Micah spent enough days in the hospital at Duke to equal 30+ weeks.
I wrote last year at this time: "Duke is not a perfect place, but it is a good place." The doctors there aren't perfect. They make mistakes. Things are not always smooth. Answers can sometimes be scarce. However, when I consider not having the care for Micah that he has received from there, I rejoice in the Lord that He has placed us close to this medical facility and gifted those medical providers with the skill and wisdom Micah has benefited from.
So I ask you to consider this question: "What can you give?" Sarah and I, even before having children, have given a various times. Maybe you don't have children. Maybe you've never had a need for a facility like the Duke Children's Hospital and Health Center. Even a one time gift of any size would be an incredible blessing to Micah and every other child that receives care there now and will receive care there in the future.
What can you give?
