Where Things Have Been and Where They Are At

Yesterday I was eating lunch with my friend Chad. Another gentleman I know happened to be eating at the same restaurant. He came over and said, "So how is Micah? I haven't pulled up the blog lately to check."

I quickly responded, "Don't worry. I've not posted a new entry since Christmas time." He laughed and said, "Things that good, huh?"

I wish I could say that things have been that good. Here's where they've been and where they're at.

About a month ago Micah's liver numbers were continuing to climb. Dr. Berman began treating him for rejection. This did not work. Come to find out, there is another blockage in Micah's bile duct (you'll recall he had one last May). Twice Micah has had a procedure to try and open the blockage. Both times have been unsuccessful. He currently has a bile drain that is running out of his abdomen and draining the bile into a bag. He is scheduled to have the procedure again at the end of this month to try again. If that does not work, surgery will likely be required to correct the problem.

In the meantime, he has also had a bacteria that caused him to be very sick and hospitalized. But as of right now, he's doing well. He just crawls around and carries (or drags) his bile drain bag with him. He's even begun to say Isaac's name (add that to the list of "Mom", "Dad", "Ball" and "Pop tart"). It's pretty neat to continue seeing him grow and develop in the midst of all that is happening. As a matter of fact, except for his new bile drain, you would see him and think he's doing great.

Thank you for continuing to pray.

Thanks for updating, and we'll continue to pray for sweet Micah and the rest of you as you move ahead in this journey. It is SO precious to see him light up when he comes to get Isaac at the end of the day!
