Sarah just returned with Isaac, Ethan and Micah from a few days in Virginia. It was a good time for them being able to visit family and get-a-way. They might have stayed longer except Micah's liver numbers have been elevated for the last 10 to 14 days and Micah is returning to Duke for some blood tests today to see what the latest results say.
Doctors believe it is a rejection episode which should subside with the introduction of the large doses of steroid. There is also communication between Dr. Berman and other pulmonary doctors regarding Micah's lungs and whether to proceed with a lung biopsy at this time. While I doubt that there will be any further discussion today that settles that question or confirms a time to do the procedure.
Please continue to pray for Micah and our family and for doctors to be given the wisdom of God. Micah has been doing fairly well. There have been sicknesses as of late, the elevation of liver enzymes and so forth. Yet even in the midst of it, Micah is making developmental improvement. Though it isn't traditional crawling, Micah has begun to be mobile with what I call the "inch worm crawl." We are so grateful for God's sustaining power and perfect peace in all things.

Hi guys! I saw Micah briefly at Duke the other day and he looks great! He's grown so much. The other boys are so big, too! Wow. Have you noticed our kids go through the same thing at the same time? It's weird. Josh went months with "perfect" liver numbers. Now, his are elevated and they think it's rejection and he's getting one more day of IV prednisone and then a few days of a massive dose of oral prednisone. It's just so odd that they do these things at the same time. Maybe they're twins. :) I'm glad to hear that Micah is trying to crawl. That's great. Just a word of warning because I didn't remember this until an incident happened, the steroids they take make their bones more easy to break. Josh was trying to walk and fell, like any normal kid, and now has a broken arm. He's been in a cast for about a month. I know we can't put our kids in a bubble and keep them from doing what they should be doing, but at least knowing that fact may help us be more vigilant about falls. I didn't think Josh would BREAK his arm with a simple fall and I was hesitating to take him to the ER, but I am so glad that I did. Anyway... I hope that everything comes back fine and Micah's numbers come back down quickly. Feel free to contact us if you ever want to talk! My email is kmcelrath@juno.com --Kim, Jeff, Elliot and Josh
