"Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him" (Mark 16:6).
Tomorrow the Christian community will celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because of the Resurrection, there is a Living Savior. Because of the Resurrection, we know Jesus is alive and in control. Because of the Resurrection, we have hope. Hope when the world seems too far gone. Hope when circumstances seem too bad off. Hope when all the street signs in your life point you to Hopelessville.
It is the hope that is only found in Jesus Christ that constantly sustains me and lifts my spirit in difficult times. I pray on this Resurrection Day Eve that you know and claim that hope.
On Thursday night, I drove the familiar route to Duke Hospital with Micah in the back seat. Few cars, deafening silence and an achy heart along the way. A fever had spiked. Earlier in the day Micah had been to Duke for have blood tests done. A couple counts, including his white blood cell count, was low. That, coupled with the fever, caused the doctor to instruct us to take him.
Blood cultures and other tests have been done to try to pinpoint why the fever and why he hasn't rebounded from the apparent virus of last week. He seems to be losing electrolytes which the doctor believes are exiting through the bile draining out of his body. Here again we face one of those situations where you remove one problem to create another. But the drain is necessary at this point.
Today Micah received a blood transfusion because his hemoglobin and hematacrit were both very low. He still isn't feeling very well.
Beyond this, there isn't much I can pass along. He's spending his third night at Duke. The word from the doctor is that he won't come home before Monday. I guess we're just trying to hit all the holidays and special days (Christmas, Birthday, Valentines, Easter, etc.).
Please just be praying that Micah's strength and health will turn. The Lord knows exactly what is going on and can at any moment bring the healing needed. We also pray for a short stay and a quick home going.
May you and your family have a wonderful day celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ!
