"Jesus was going throughout all Galilee...healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people" (Matthew 4:23).
The Bible teaches that Jesus was and is and is to come. He is the same always including yesterday, today and forever. Therefore, when you go back as far into history, Jesus is. When you stand in today, He is. But go as far forward into eternity and you'll still find that Jesus is.
So when we read about Jesus, the Son of God, who walked throughout all Galilee teaching, proclaiming the gospel and healing every size, shape, form or degree of disease or sickness, one truth is for certain. Jesus HAS NOT changed. Oh but we sometimes act as though He has.
I'm guilty. Go ahead and pass the sentence on down. And it is easy to preach the power of Jesus Christ but fail to apply that same power to your own life. Jesus healed every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people. There was nothing outside of His power. There was nothing too difficult. No sickness had such a tight grip that Jesus could not overcome it. No body was so riddled with pain, sores, sickness, disease and the like that He turned away thinking it was a hopeless cause. For He healed every kind.
Now I am not one to claim that you will have healing if you have great enough faith. After all, I don't claim to have great faith. I just have a great God. I don't see Jesus healing people because of "great faith." I see Him heal because they "had faith." Big or small, great or weak, faith is faith. To have faith is to believe that God is who He says He is and can do what He says He can do.
Too often we trust ourselves. Too often we trust the medicine. God may use the medicine. He may use the surgery. But He doesn't have to use those. He could circumvent all of that. He is today what He Matthew writes about His journey throughout all Galilee. We simply need faith to believe He can whether He chooses to do so or not.
Sarah and I have seen God do, without a procedure, a therapy or a medication, just what Jesus did for all the people throughout Galilee. And we've seen God use medicine and surgery to be the agent of healing as well. Whatever the case, whatever the means, our faith is in the Lord and our praise goes to Him.
Today Micah will have two tests to determine why the liver enzyme levels have been elevated and his bilirubin continues to climb. Specifically, the doctors are looking for the possibility of a bile flow problem or blockage, as well as whether the PTLD is still present in the liver. The tests include a liver biopsy and a scan that will look at the flow of bile through the bile ducts. Yesterday was not as good a day for Micah as the day before. It could be not feeling well or not a lot of sleep. We pray it isn't something that has come on that is going to set him back severely again.
Our desire is to know what is occurring so Micah might be treated and the liver to function as it should. We know the Lord could touch His body and His liver before these tests. The doctors may see nothing and the lab results start showing improvement. For this we pray. Regardless, we pray for the Lord to grant wisdom and skill to doctors, should He choose not to heal by the miracle of His touch, in order that they might know what to do and that God might heal by miracle of the medicine. To God be the glory, honor and praise!
