It seems as though it is going to be just a little longer. Today Micah returned to Duke for labs and to see Dr. Berman. I returned to meet with Dr. Koo (the surgeon who would be performing my surgery) to sign the surgical consent and then to complete my pre-op appointment. All seems to be well and on track to move forward and soon!
While we had hoped to hear on Tuesday of this week about our surgery date, a cadaveric liver came available for another child and the surgeons were performing the transplant and unable to meet to discuss Micah's situation and timeline. So we waited until today. The first bit of news we received was that there still was no definite date. However, this afternoon we received word that the transplant would be September 7. Then we received word a final time to say..."Wait until tomorrow. We still have one other item to line up for September 7 before we can definitively say that will be the date."
So we wait just a little longer. Tomorrow we should know. At this point, we are fairly confident of two dates: September 7 or 17. Another living donor transplant is scheduled for the 10th. Friday should tell whether we'll be able to work the early or late date.
Continue to lift this in prayer for us. While there are several items which make September 7 appear all the more attractive and "right", only the Lord knows what is best for us and Micah. He alone knows what is best and right for man. Therefore, we can make our plans, but the Lord will ultimately direct our steps.
Hopefully there will be an update tomorrow evening sharing the official date of transplant, unless an organ comes available prior to that date.
May we magnify the Lord, for He is worthy!
